Obituary

Dr. Drewry J. Marrow Vincent, DDS, son of Fannie M. Vincent and the late James M. Vincent, Sr., was born August 1, 1961 in Reidsville, NC. He made a peaceful transition into everlasting life on May 31, 2018 at his home after overcoming cancer for six years. He attended the public schools of Reidsville, NC and graduated from Reidsville Senior High School in 1979.

Drewry, better known as “DJ”, was a fun loving and charismatic person that was loved by all. He continued his education at North Carolina Central University in Durham, N. C. where he graduated with a B. S. degree in Biology. He later received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 1988. On April 21, 1990, DJ married the love of his life, Teresa Harper, an attorney, and current judge in Greensboro, NC.

He began his dental career in Burlington in 1988 before joining the practice of Dr. Stan Allen, DDS in 1989. Dr. Vincent started his own practice with Dr. Allen’s blessing. His office is located on Elm Street in Greensboro where he was a valued member of the community until he passed.

DJ gave his life to Christ at an early age at First Baptist Church Scales Street (now Hubbard Street) in Reidsville, NC. He and Teresa were active members of Genesis Baptist Church and Elim Christian Fellowship before becoming dedicated members of Oak Springs Missionary Baptist Church of Stokesdale, NC. He served as Sunday School teacher at Oak Springs.

While at North Carolina Central University, DJ became a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He was an active member of Tau Omega graduate chapter in Greensboro, NC. He was a member and past Sire Archon of the Sigma Pi Phi Boulé of Greensboro, NC, member of the American Dental Association, former president of the Guilford County Dental Society, and member of the Greensboro Medical Society.

DJ Vincent lived by the motto, “friendship is essential to the soul”. He was a joy to be around and he thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship of his family and friends.
