Dr. James Mckie, Jr Obituary
GREENSBORO James McKie, Jr., MD passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. He was born June 3, 1946, to Laura and James McKie Sr. James was educated in the public schools in Brooklyn, New York where he graduated from Boys High School. After leaving Boys High School, he went to the Academy of Aeronautics and the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn where he became an engineer and worked for several years at Bell Laboratories in New Jersey. After wanting to do something more meaningful with his life, James enrolled in the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, NJ where he obtained his medical degree in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He practiced medicine for over 30 years in Greensboro, NC. He was a member of Stokesdale Church of God in Stokesdale, NC. James had several hobbies that he was passionate about. His most passionate hobby was reading he loved to read. He was affiliated with several medical organizations, including the American Medical Association and the Old North State Medical Society, just to name a few. His survivors include one sister (Ernestine McKie), two daughters (Laurel and Michaela McKie) and one son (Arturo McKie). He will also be forever remembered by his extended family and dear friends. A celebration of James' life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the O'Henry Hotel 624 Green Valley Rd, Greensboro NC 27408. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Kidney Fund or the American Heart Association. Hinnant Funeral Service is assisting the McKie family.
