MEDICAL / DENTAL PREPARATION SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The Greensboro Medical Society Foundation Scholarship program supports the mission to prepare under-represented African American college students in their pursuit of admission into medical and dental school, and encouraging scholarship recipients to dedicate their professional lives to improving the quality of healthcare for the people of their community and the nation. This scholarship is to help fund MCAT/DAT (or other healthcare entrance exam) preparation courses as well as costs of taking the medical school/dental school entrance exams.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Current Enrollment (Undergraduate, Graduate, or Post-Baccalaureate) in a college or university in Guilford County, who has taken the minimum premed/pre-dental (or other pre-healthcare professional curriculum) courses required for pursuit of application into a healthcare professional school. Previous recipients are NOT eligible.
The award is competitive and subject to approval of the Greensboro Medical Society Foundation Committee and application does not assure approval.
DESCRIPTION OF AWARD
The GMSF Scholarship award promotes access to healthcare education through scholarships rewarded based upon student financial need, under representation, academic excellence, and potential for leadership. In addition to the eligibility requirements above, applicant must demonstrate proof of enrollment in an accredited institution with a pursuit of admission in the health care fields defined as: Medical School, Dental School, Psychology, Podiatry, Chiropractic, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy.
Application Deadline:
Applications must be completed to be considered. Falsification of data will void application. Proof of supporting information may be required before scholarship awards are issued. Applications submitted must be received by The Greensboro Medical Society Foundation Scholarship Committee before Friday, January 31, 11:59 pm or will not be considered.
